    Luke Update

    Luke
I am pledging to be better about updating this site!

Luke is 22 months old. For those that have not been informed, he has MANY teeth. I can’t tell you how many because I’m too scared to go in there. We stopped breastfeeding around 20+ months. My supply was almost gone and it was just time. At the same time I decided to get rid of the bottle… so now he’s all sippy cup, all the time. Next step is straw drinking (this will help w/ speech- see section on muscle tone). He has had two professional hair cuts which he does not like but I suppose I can say he tolerates (while I hold him). He is WALKING! This is so huge (I’ll explain a bit more about why this is so huge later)!! He’s also signing! We have been showing him signs and a sign language DVD for over a year. Just this past spring we took a sign language class together. When we were in Hawaii in May he waved for the first time which I consider his first sign. Not long after, he was also signing drink and more and food/eat! It’s amazing to be able to communicate with him! Beyond that it gave me a sign (no pun intended) that his little mind was working… and capable of learning. I knew it was…. But it was great to have that reassurance! In August we’re taking a gymnastics class with a friend and then will probably sign up for the sign class again. I believe once he’s 2 he’ll also start speech therapy.

    Luke's First Swim Lesson

    Luke

Luke started swim lessons this week. Lucky for me, he didn't scream like a couple of the other little ones. It was a bit chilly but not too bad. Overall, he seemed to have a good time and really enjoyed splashing! It was pretty cute. Hopefully as he gets more comfortable, there will be less thumb sucking. We shall see. Pics are in the gallery.

    My Super Cute Nephew

    General News

Many of you know that I have the cutest nephew ever. He's done a couple of things lately that I feel are worthy of mentioning on this site. On Saturday when we went to Apple Hill, one of the farms we went to had a train. There was a white fence around the area where the train was. Connor went right up to the fence and sort of climbed up on it a bit and put his little face between the slats and said in his adorable little voice "Hi Choo Choo!". I can't get over this. It was so darn cute.

Then, when my sister was showing Connor the pictures from the day to him on the computer he was saying "Guke, Guke"... evidently that's his way of saying Luke! He knows who Luke is and evidently is happy to see him! How cute is that???? I can't get over it. I can't believe my little nephew is so grown up! :-)

    Luke is 14 Months Old!

    Luke

Luke was 14 mo old yesterday. He's getting bigger all the time and constantly doing new things. He's VERY smart. Don't let anyone tell you differently. He has us wrapped around his little finger! One of his new things is that he brings us books to read to him. He'll hand you the same book over and over and over again. I guess he hasn't learned yet that variety is the spice of life? Here's a pic of Mike reading to him.

We've been going to a baby sign class. Luke crawls right up to the teacher and sits down right in front of her and just stares at her while she talks or reads a story. He's captivated.

Luke always wants to stand. He pulls up on whatever he can. He also wants to stand in the bath. We're still bathing him in the kitchen sink since we ripped out his bathroom and currently have no bathtub. He knows it's a "no no" but just look at that face!

Luke's favorite Sunday morning activity is to "read" the Sunday paper. He can't get enough of all the ads! It keeps him occupied for quite some time!

    HappyHalloween

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Last year it was an elephant and a peanut, this year it's a lion and a monkey! While they won't be together on Halloween, we did manage to get a photo shoot done so that we'd have pictures to share. Neither one of them were thrilled about being in their costumes and had no idea what to make of each other. I think Heather and I were laughing so hard that we had a hard time taking the pictures! We hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!
